Welcome to FireLotus (the “Platform”). We respect your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you browse or use the Platform — for example watching courses and short videos, reading ebooks, using My Learning, Journeys, search, bookmarks, or contacting us.

FireLotus is a free educational service offering Buddhist teachings associated with Khenpo Sodargye. We do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect

  • Account information: email address, display name, and password (stored only in hashed form) when you register or sign in, including Google sign-in identifiers if you choose that method.
  • Learning data: lesson progress, last playback position and time, Journey enrollment and reflections (when you are a Journey subscriber), bookmarks, and related preferences used to resume learning and personalize My Learning.
  • Communication preferences: for example whether you opt in to new-course email notifications, and Journey-related email settings.
  • Messages you send: content of About contact forms and site feedback, including the email address you provide so we can reply.
  • Technical and analytics data: approximate device/browser type, pages viewed, session timing, and similar logs needed for security, reliability, and product improvement. We may use first-party analytics on the Platform.
  • Site search: query terms and result summaries may be stored to improve search; they are not used for advertising.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies or similar storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and support guest playback resume where applicable. Some bookmarks or progress may also be kept in your browser’s local storage until you clear site data.

You can control cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or break core features.

Third-party services

Video lessons and shorts are often embedded from third-party platforms such as YouTube. When you play that content, those providers may process device or session data under their own policies. Please review their privacy terms as well.

If you sign in with Google, Google processes authentication data according to its policies. Email delivery (for verification, Journey mail, or contact routing) may use a transactional email provider under our configuration.

How we use and protect information

We use the information above to provide and improve the Platform, keep accounts secure, send the emails you request or that are part of Journey enrollment, respond to contact and feedback, and meet legal obligations.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure.

Your choices

You can update many preferences in My Learning or account settings when signed in. You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of account-related personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
