Lesson 9
Original Vows of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Sutra
Why do we keep repeating the same harmful patterns—even when we know better? In Lesson 09 of the Ksitigarbha Sutra, Khenpo Sodargye explains how repeated actions of body, speech, and mind gradually shape our habits, relationships, and future experiences.
Through teachings on karmic cause and effect, he discusses the consequences of excessive consumption, killing, disrespecting parents, damaging sacred objects, misusing Sangha property, divisive speech, arrogance, and other harmful behaviors.
Khenpo also reflects on why people experience very different outcomes under similar circumstances, why genuine Buddhist practice should create visible changes in our character, and why selfishness is leaving many people increasingly lonely and unable to form trustworthy friendships.
The lesson concludes by showing how Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva teaches different beings according to their individual tendencies and needs.
