The Shurangama Sutra

Teachings by Khenpo Sodargye. "The Shurangama Sutra" is an important Buddhist scripture whose core teaching reveals the inherent Tathagatagarbha (Buddha-nature) true mind of all sentient beings. Its main contents include the "Seven Places to Seek the Mind" which breaks through attachment to the false mind, pointing out that the discriminating consciousness is not the true mind; the "Eight Returns to Discern Seeing" which shows that the seeing-nature is the true essence; the "Twenty-five Means to Perfect Penetration" which presents methods of cultivation and realization; and the "Fifty Skandha-demons" which warn against deviations in practice. The entire sutra aims to break through the false and reveal the true, enabling sentient beings to recognize their inherently complete Tathagatagarbha nature, understand the truth that all phenomena are mind-only manifestations like dreams and illusions, and ultimately attain the Shurangama Samadhi.
