A Journey to the West
A JOURNEY TO THE WEST: Recollections of Accompanying My Guru to Europe and North America in 1993- Episode 13:Foundation of Practice This episode documents the precious teachings given by His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche on June 19, 1993, in Hawaii, during the empowerment and transmission of "Manjushri Peaceful Meditation Great Perfection - Buddha in the Palm of Your Hand."
🙏 Main Content His Holiness's permission to translate Manjushri Great Perfection into all languages The importance of contentment and few desires in practice The dreamlike nature of existence: past, present, and future Four levels of practitioners and spiritual attainment The importance of relying on qualified spiritual masters Proper methods of study, contemplation, and meditation The relationship between "Advice: Heart Drops of Wisdom" and "Buddha in the Palm" The miraculous story of pacifying Hawaii's volcanic eruption with the vajra kila
💫 Core Teaching His Holiness emphasized that contentment and few desires are the foundation of practice. All worldly phenomena are dreamlike and illusory; we should let go of attachment to this life. The Manjushri Great Perfection is like myrobalan in Tibetan medicine - it can be combined with teachings from any lineage and is a supreme path to liberation in this degenerate age.
📿 Special Teaching His Holiness compared "Advice: Heart Drops of Wisdom" to the scholarly Pandita approach, and "Buddha in the Palm" to the profound Kusali approach. Together they form a complete and complementary path of practice.
