In this lesson of the Vimalakirti Sutra, Khenpo Sodargye stresses the importance of consistency in attending Dharma teachings and cultivating a pure mind while listening. The teaching explores the sequential path of a Bodhisattva's mind, showing how a sincere mind naturally gives rise to virtuous actions, a deep resolve, and the application of skillful means to mature sentient beings, which ultimately purifies the Buddha land. Khenpo emphasizes the famous sutra quote: "If a Bodhisattva wishes to attain a pure land, he should purify his mind. According to the purity of his mind is his Buddha land pure." He points out that integrating the Tantric profound views, such as primordial purity, makes understanding this concept much clearer. The lesson also recounts the story of Manjushri and the Hair Stupa to illustrate that Buddhas and Bodhisattvas manifest everywhere, but our perception depends on our own purity of mind. Lastly, it addresses Sariputra's doubt about the impurities of Shakyamuni Buddha's world, using the Buddha's metaphor of the blind person failing to see the sun, to explain that the Buddha land is already pure, but beings fail to see it due to their own karmic obscurations.
