The Way of the Bodhisattva
The Way of the Bodhisattva L47 The main speaker of this session is Khenpo Sodargye The Method of Guarding Your Mind Against Endless Suffering
In this teaching on the fifth chapter of the Bodhicharyavatara, Khenpo Sodargye explains the crucial practice of guarding the mind through right mindfulness and awareness. He defines mindfulness as never forgetting virtuous actions and awareness as constantly observing one's body, speech, and mind. By comparing an untamed mind to a wild, destructive elephant, Khenpo illustrates that failing to guard the mind leads to immense suffering in samsara, including rebirth in the lower realms. Conversely, firmly tying the mind to the post of virtue with the rope of mindfulness dispels all worldly terrors and brings boundless merit. He also calls upon practitioners to share the Buddhist spirit of compassion with society and shows, through various stories of great masters, how taming the mind and generating profound compassion can naturally pacify external threats, enemies, and fears.
